March- steppin' into spring!

This past Valentine's Day, ARMA Jacksonville Chapter "shared the love" of privacy with its members and celebrated February's designation as National Privacy Month! Many thanks to Suze Shaffer, HIPAA Security Analyst with ARIS Medical Solutions, for educating us on how to protect data, avoid data breaches, and protect our respective businesses from audits and investigations. This valuable information has been posted on our Presentations page --- which continues to evolve into a resource rich with information governance and records management materials.

It doesn't get much better than FREE! Kristina Smith, ARMA Jacksonville Chapter's Membership Director and Florida School for the Deaf and Blind Records Management Coordinator, will host members and guests for a FREE presentation on creating a compliant records management program from scratch! A tour of the FSDBs St. Augustine campus will follow. Please mark your calendars to attend this awesome event- Thursday, March 28, from 1:15 to 3:30. Further details regarding access, directions, etc. can be found here.

Last month, the Board and members attended the ARMA 2019 Florida Sunshine Conference. Much fun and socializing were had amidst the information-packed learning sessions. The Conference- sponsored by ARMA's local chapters- Orlando, Gulf Coast, Treasure Coast, and Jacksonville- was a huge success! Many thanks to Jacksonville Board Members Kim Beach and MIchelle Radar for devoting their time, energy, leadership, and enthusiasm. #GoTeamARMAJax! For those members not able to attend, speaker presentations are available on the ARMA Orlando website.

Our Chapter's Study Group for CRA/ CRM Certification continues. Member Michael DeVanna, MLS, CRM, leads the session every other Saturday morning at 9AM at Lucy's Sweet Shop, located in the Costa Verde Plaza at the corner of 25th Avenue South and 3rd Street South in Jacksonville Beach. The next study session is April 6, 2019. For further motivation regarding certification, check out "The Value of Being a Certified Records Manager" on our Chapter website.

We're steppin' into Spring with unique yet wholly-applicable tours and events. In April we will visit the Jacksonville Zoo & Gardens and learn about the facility's records management program and practices. In May we will visit Historic Springfield and learn about the impact of disaster and recovery measures.

As always, your suggestions are welcomed and appreciated! Please do not hesitate to contact me with your feedback at If your membership has lapsed, we hope you will join the ARMA Jacksonville Chapter at
